Welcome
We are a high school FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) robotics team from Foshay Learning Center located in South Central Los Angeles. Since 2001, our team has set out to change the way our culture perceives STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers. Adhering to the spirit of FIRST, our Mission is to encourage, motivate, and inspire young men and women through the use of Robotics to pursue their interests in the STEM fields. We foster a positive, humanistic and multicultural experience that cultivates teamwork, responsibility and commitment to all stakeholders involved: students, teachers, parents, mentors, sponsors and our community."We Build More Than Robots... We Build Character!"
What is FIRST?
"The varsity sport for the mind, FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team 'brand,' hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It's as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. "1 Read more about FIRST and this year's game "Logomotion" at http://www.usfirst.org.Logomotion is a game marking the 20th anniversary of FIRST. In this game, robots will have to pick up 3 types of game pieces that resemble the FIRST logo (Triangles, Squares, Circles) from the playing field and place them onto three different pegs in order to score points. In addition to the game pieces, robots will have to deploy a minibot onto a pole for additional points.
