Why should I be part of FIRST Robotics?
FIRST Robotics enriches the lives of all who are part, it helps discover creative and innovative skills participants withhold and allows them to be applied to something constructive. FIRST also gives active participants a taste of the real world by making them face challenges and put the skills learned to the test.

How do I find out if building robots is for me?
FIRST Robotics isn't only about building robots. A team is formed by a group that fundraises, documents all necessary information or material, takes pictures, films, works with computer programs, and more. Once again, it all depends on your skills or interests.

What will I learn from FIRST?
A team is composed of a variety of active participants with different skills. Whether it's fundraising, documenting, writing, web-designing, or hands-on work, a FIRST team needs it all. It's a perfect way to find out what inspires you. Building the robot isn't everything. And besides, you'll never know until you try.

Why does joining FIRST Robotics benefit me?
FIRST gives many students a chance to meet new people, people around the world or in their own community and it allows students to work handson with engineers and mentors. FIRST can also keep you away from negative influences.

FIRST has an official website, Innovation First that can supply you with the material you need. Or you may also visit any hardware store closest to you.

Start a Team

Why start a FIRST team?
Being part of a FIRST team inspires a student, and makes them want to strive for success. It challenges students and allows them to apply the skills learned inside the calssroom, thus, getting them enthusiastic about science and technology.

How man teachers do you need?
A FIRST team requires at least one head advisor. But, many teachers can be involved, the more the merrier.

Who do I talk to about starting a FIRST team?
First and foremost, you should have the support of your school. You sohuld talk to your principal about FIRST and show them the FIRST website. You should also consider recruiting people who are interested and are knowdgeble in the field of science and technology to help with building, wiring, programming, etc.

How much does it cost to participate a FIRST competition?
The first regional is $6000. Any additional regionals are $4000. Championship competitions are $5000.

How do I become a volunteer?
You must visit the Volunteer Information & Matching System (VIMS) on the FIRST website and register by filling out the needed information.

What positions can I get as a volunteer?
